Mission DanceWorks (formerly Sudbrook Arts Centre) is the new official home of Baltimore County Youth Ballet located at Sudbrook Magnet Middle School and Pikesville High School. Formed in 1983, Sudbrook Arts Centre dance education continues to stand as a superior institution for training aspiring dancers and creative thinkers. During its more than 30 year history, the Centre has developed dancers who have gone on to careers in professional companies and have won Maryland State scholarships and college scholarships throughout the country. Looking forward, Mission DanceWorks now leads the Centre into a new season by broadening the scope of local dance offerings with a full range of diverse programming for all ages and abilities. We believe that quality instruction is paramount to a well-rounded athlete and artist so we are pleased to bring in master teachers and professionals in the field of dance to share their gifts with us. As a non-profit school, Mission DanceWorks is unwavering in its commitment to enriching the lives of students of all abilities, which is why we are pleased to announce our new programs in DiverseAbility classes for students who may have various support needs physically or cognitively. Mission DanceWorks is excited to provide diverse performing opportunities for students via Baltimore County Youth Ballet and also the Special Olympics Dance Maryland among others. Our core goal is to prepare all students for life as a thriving, creative individual whether pursuing a professional career as an artist or passionately cultivating an appreciation for creativity and community in any profession and setting. Our program is known for its balanced support of academic education, integrity, and artistic excellence for over 30 years. Thus the Sudbrook Arts Centre program continues to nurture the next generation of thoughtful, diverse, and creative individuals of all career paths through Mission DanceWorks and its community of students, parents, teachers, and volunteers!

Ballet Level 2/3 Technique (Ages 8-9) Students continue the formal study of classical ballet through increased skill development, the relationship between music and dance and refinement of movement.Great care and attention is given to proper body alignment.
1 and a half hour class 1 or 2 times per week, Mondays, 5:30PM - 7:00PM, and Saturdays 9:00AM - 10:30AM at Sudbrook Middle School 
Level 2/3 - 2 days a week -
$925 for school year ($115.63 deposit, $115.63 monthly payment, Oct. 1 - April 1); 1 day a week - $500 for school year ($62.50 deposit, $62.50 monthly payment Oct. 1st - April 1st)


Ballet Level 4 Technique (Ages 10-12) Students are taught fundamental ballet technique and develop the self-discipline necessary to continue the study of classical ballet on the more advanced levels. Great care and attention is given to proper body alignment.

1 or 2 times per week. 1 and a half hour classes,Wednesday, 5:00PM  - 6:30PM, and Thursday 5:30 - 7:00PM at Sudbrook Middle School
Ballet Level 4 - 2 days a week - $925 for the school year ($115.63 deposit, $115.63 monthly payment, Oct. 1st - April 1st); 1 day a week - $550 for the school year ($68.75 deposit, $68.75 monthly payment, Oct. 1st - April 1st)

Pre-Pointe & Pointe I 
(Ages 10-12) With teacher permission. Pointe students must be enrolled in ballet technique 2 times a week.
Half hour class on Wednesdays, 6:30PM - 7:00PM at Sudbrook Middle School

Pre-Pointe and Pointe I - $300 for school year ($37.50 deposit, $37.50 monthly payment, Oct.1st - April 1st)


*Lyrical Dance (8-9yrs) Lyrical dance is a style of dance created by merging ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance techniques. Lyrical dancing is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics in the chosen song. Because lyrical dancing focuses on the expression of strong emotion, the style concentrates more on individual approach and expressiveness than the precision of the dancer's movements. This is a beginner course designed for the student who has had ballet previously but not extensively. Strongly recommended as an accompaniment to Ballet 2/3.
1 hour class on Mondays, 7:00 - 8:00PM at Sudbrook Middle School
Lyrical Dance - $500 for the school year ($62.50 deposit, $62.50 monthly payment, Oct. 1st - April 1st)

*Hip Hop I Beginner/Intermediate (Ages 10-17) This class focuses on Hip Hop dance basics and will be a high energy class. Throughout the year, dancers will learn and perform basic elements such as isolations, syncopation, hitting, break dancing and various combinations.
One and a half hour class on Mondays, 6:00 - 7:30PM, at Pikesville High School

Hip Hop I - $550 for school year ($68.75 deposit, $68.75 monthly payment, Oct. 1st - April 1st)

*Contemporary Modern I Beginning/ Intermediate (Ages 10-17) This class focuses on various Modern technique elements. Throughout the year, dancers will learn a mix of Modern techniques inspired by Taylor, Limon, Bartenieff fundamentals, and Horton techniques. Dancers will learn and perform floor work, spirals, turns, jumps, inversions, and various Modern combinations. This class is for beginner to intermediate level dancers.
One hour class on Mondays, 7:30 - 8:30PM, at Pikesville High School
Contemporary Modern I - $500 for school year ($62.50 deposit, $62.50 monthly payment, Oct. 1st - April 1st)

Dress Code
We believe that appropriate dress codes and shoe requirements are imperative to being safe and successful while performing dance exercises on a day to day basis. Please be sure to have the correct shoes and attire when in any given class. Descriptions are below. We thank you in advance for partnering with us to uphold our minimal requirements for the optimal success of every student!

Ballet
Girls: Black leotard, ballet tights (that match your natural skin tone), and canvas, split-sole ballet slippers.
Boys: black tights, white shirt, white socks and white shoes.

Contemporary, Jazz and Modern
Leggings and/or tights, skirts/shorts when applicable, leotard/t-shirt when applicable, jazz shoes for jazz, "dance paws" or barefeet for modern, and lyrical or ballet slippers for contemporary

African:
Leggings and shirt with a separate Kanga/Lapa required. Instructor will discuss more in person.

Hip Hop:
Leggings, tights, stretch jeans, or shorts with shirt, and tennis shoes.
